My Mom, Martha Vega is being interviewed. She is my mother. My mother was born in Mexico, my mother says her hometown was a beutiful village. My mother came in 1979, she was 16 years old, with her husband, she left her entire family, her sisters, brothers, and mom and dad. My mother came to America looking for a better life. She didn''t leave her foreign country because of any problems what so ever with her country, she left with her own will.
When my mother came to this country, she was lonely, because she didn't know anyone at that time.My mom did also feel excited, to see how this country was. When my mom came here she at first lived in Forth Worth, Texas. She lived with her husband. As soon as my mom came here she got familiar with this country, while my dad worked.
My moms first job, was printing commercial mail ( Like Pennysaver ),my mom worked here for3 years. My mom first friend was Elva Cora, my mom met her at her first job. They became friends through work. My mom doesn't talk with her anymore. My mother learned english in 1983, she started taking ESL classes, she learned English it was needed.
My mother did become a citizen, because she wanted to. My mother is very happy to come to this country, she would restart this journey if it was needed, this country gave her all the opportunities she couldn't have in her hometown.
My mother is proud, what she went through during the time she was going through school, and working and the same time. Having three kids to feed, she acheived her biggest dream, which is becoming a R.N.
